SAVUSAVU students continue to show great interest in the sport of sailing held every weekend in the town of the hidden paradise.

Sailing director Savusavu yacht club Jeff Taylor said students sign up for the sport every weekend.

"We have training every Saturday morning and after midday, we start with our competition and every weekend, a lot of students join the club.

"The students have performed well over the past years topping the weekend games," Taylor said.

He said the top player for the weekly competition was 16-year-old Robert Hazelman.

"Most of our members are students and they have taken the competition to a different level with encouraging results," Taylor said.

"We have other upcoming players who are students as well and it's good to see them come out in numbers to participate in the sailing weekly competition as they have also played at national and international level.

Taylor said a group of older players recently joined the club.

"They were always members but left because of work commitment and now they have come around again to rejoin the club which is good for us," Taylor said.
