Man found dead

Shalveen Chand
Wednesday, July 28, 2010

THE body of a man was discovered by two youths in mangroves near the Wailada industrial area outside Lami yesterday.

Police forensics experts swept the area in the afternoon as the body was removed before the tide came in. "We were taking our lunch break when the two youths made the discovery. Soon after, police combed the area," said Jone Batimoko, who was at the site. "The body was of a young man who was clothed."

Mr Batimoko said police acted fast because the body was in knee-deep water.

The body was taken from the banks of the river by the police at about 3pm yesterday. Police investigations continue.
